Come celebrate with us in the sunshine Sunday – 9am-3pm! We’ll have lots of vintage treasure books turned in secret safes and miniature works of art and we’ve even got a couple of new characters engraved into our treasure boxes! Get on yer bike!
I was the very lucky winner of the Mothers Day giveaway from DTLL with Sonia at Life, Love and Hiccups.
I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful tea towel. It’s fantastic. I had my four year old son open it and his face when he saw it was priceless!
Thank you so much. You helped make my Mothers Day a very beautiful one!

It appears Foolhouse’s Anatomy of a Mother Teatowel has proved too much for some Summer Hillians. The lovely Catherine Grealish of Summer Hill Sweets took on some of our products last week and did a delightful clothes line of our teatowels in her shopfront window to tickle mothers as they passed by – unfortunately it appears not even the Inner West was ready for a such a tickling. So the naked truth is that this vintage illustration created actually more than 100 years ago is apparently not widely acceptable in this day and age? Thus the teatowels were taken down and are only available in store behind the counter in a brown paper bag…no just kidding. Foolhouse has offered to take the offending teatowels back and keep them at the ready for their all-accepting Finders Keepers audience. We know motherhood is confronting but really?! It was afterall my Facebook fools who chose the naked version rather than the lingerie clad version…perhaps tomorrow i will sew some little bras on all my teatowels and then go burn them…! It’s all very titilating…
May Day! May 1, 2014
STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
We have the answer! Foolhouse has just concocted a new flavour in the Doorjam series – Elderberry – and it will predict what you could be as you grow ‘elder’ … and of course the kids too! Following in the same theme as Strawberry, Raspberry and Blueberry Doorjams, this one is in a retro jade green on cream. (unfortunately elderberries are actually purple but we figured a little bit of artistic license would be forgiven, given that not too many children’s interiors celebrate the violet spectrum!) It has a different occupation every 5cm and miniature illustrations too. Watch children constantly checking to see if they’ve outgrown ‘Town Crier’ or taller than ‘Jockey’ and entered the realms of ‘Superhero’ or ‘Elephant Trainer’ and see them standing on chairs to reach ‘Head Honcho’ and ‘Astronaut’ before their time!
Psychometrically tested for accuracy!

It’s our favourite day of the year and the anniversary of launching on Facebook! Today I thought I’d bring you a tidbit of the fool-hardiness I have been working on … a t-shirt for the Foolhouse range perhaps me thinks?
It’s a work in progress but this saying has always been a favourite of mine, and with alzheimers fast approaching and my ineptness at remembering people’s names (being such a visual person, well that’s my excuse anyway) – I think I will be wearing it to every social event from here on in…minus a fez.
Tell me what you think!
They could be available soon for men and women and anyone called Dory…
aren’t I lucky to have this young man sitting beside me in the studio waiting to be clothed…

We can’t wait to show off our wares to all the Queenslanders who have supported us online and unlike the slippery little Moray who’s about as cute as he’s going to get! we are feeling the love for Finders Keepers – thanks for the song Dean Martin! More details coming soon for your calendar!

I’m going to get you some better shots of the batches soon but thought I’d tease you with them now – there’s some delightful Alice in Wonderland, Walrus, Famous Five on boats and in toboggans on the snow and of course a thousand and one dogs and perhaps a cat of two, coming soon!

Every backyard studio should have one! What a lovely tradition – it’s like clocking on and clocking off when I hang it out and make the gargantuan trek from back door to Foolhouse threshold- I feel like I am officially working! My greatest fool surprised me with it for my birthday last year and with the studio now complete and a wee bit of timber doorstep left over and flipped upside down and a couple of butchers hooks – voila! I’m open for business!

THE FOOLHOUSE PHOTOSHOOT
I knew there was a reason I didn’t become a super model when I left school, apart from the obvious! and I thought having your own label was hard work! – my foolish photographer of Art and About fame, Deb Kent, was very patient with my inability to follow instructions and not squint and sit still and not talk or fidget…but I think we managed after a few costume changes and major furniture removaling to project the essence of this foolish venture of mine!
