Carved from 384 pages of Pride and Prejudice
by Jane Austen 2005 Edition
This whimsical and imperfectly perfect paper sculpture is handmade and captured inside a glass cloche, it is 12cm tall. It is a perfectly serious prescription and is just what the doctor ordered this year!
The actual Book Tonic for this listing is shown from all sides on the black background – reflection is so hard to photograph that as i wanted to get these out quickly for people i have short cut the photography process. So please excuse me. I have shown a photo of another Book Tonic in the styled photo just to describe the look once under the cloche.
No book behaves consistently and all sorts of anomalies arise when you turn a book inside out to get the perfectly spaced page spiral. But the concept of a book being a tonic for the soul…a good book of course! really resonated with my whimsical side and the fact these bottles are part of my first experimental session is kind of endearing so I’ll let them pass muster into a glass cloche for any of you book lovers that prompted me to when I posted them on Instagram! You can leave the label on or untie it if you’d like a more neutral paper sculpture.
When I make the Secret Vintage Booksafes I try not to waste any of the paper i carve out and re-use it to make these endearing three dimensional book sculptures for the bookish amongst us. They are a delightfully dimensional addition to bookshelves and mantles and great gifts for book lovers. No one is the same and all have an individuality defined by their paper adornments or the back page on their reverse.
All the information of the book that they were carved from is on a label on the base so that you will always have the historical details kept with it.
