FLIGHT OF FANCY
Carved from 368 pages of a Companion Library Book containing –
The Call of the Wild by Jack London and Black Beauty by Anna Sewell 2010 Edition
The nest was found in a backyard in the Inner West, the home of a crocheter – hence the blue wool woven through the nest naturally by the garden’s bird life!
This delightful paper sculpture is handmade and captured inside a glass cloche. (The cloche measures 20cm in diameter and is 30cm tall)
The Silhouette of the egg is created from the body of the book and the birds are taken from a vintage botanical book of Honeyeaters and Finches. All birds are double sided. I was always told by my father to ensure I had a Nest Egg, I am sure this is not what he meant!
When I make my Secret Vintage Booksafes I try not to waste any of the paper i carve out and re-use it to make these endearing three dimensional book sculptures for the bookish amongst us.
They are a delightfully dimensional addition to bookshelves and mantles and great gifts for book lovers. No one is the same.
All the information of the book that they were carved from is on a label on the base so you will always have the details kept with it.
