From the archives of Foolhouse’s Forgotten Pages Collection.
This Original A4 Collage was created with various illustrations rescued from damaged Charlotte Bronte books over the years, as well as illustrations taken from a back story written about her in a 1920’s Australian Girls Annual. Her sisters are included too. Quotes from Jane Eyre mark this tribute to her powerful insight into the machinations of relationships.
I kept the funniest copy for your amusement and created a main character moment for Charlotte and her ‘worldly’ advice. The textural collages are made up of rescued book illustrations and vintage end pages – all the better to tie the present to the past, or perhaps the past to the present.
