Milly Molly Mandy creepy-crept!
An original collage from Foolhouse’s Vintage Postcard Collection
This hilarious original A5 Collage uses a fabulous vintage postcard and text from a 1943 Milly Molly Mandy book by Joyce Lankester Brisley.
I love the language, Joyce uses for MMM, she was so sweet and innocent, or was she?! It seemed all throughout the series MMM could not do anything without having food first. I have used these vintage illustrations integrated in such a way to tell a new story with the words of old. The language is so charming and cheeky that it seemed only right that it should be celebrated, brought out of the old books and into the light! Read between the lines, things are not always as they seem!
This textural collage uses not only rescued ephemera, but pin pricks from my mother’s vintage sewing box – all the better to tie the present to the past, or perhaps the past to the present.
Created on A5 Heavy Watercolour Paper.
