An original collage from Foolhouse’s ‘Vintage Postcards’ Collection
This original A5 collage uses parts of carefully cutout coloured illustrations from a variety of vintage books that seek to tell a new story. They are integrated into a gorgeous vintage postcard with a unique vintage stamp in such a way to tell a new story with the words of old. I try to find amusing sentences amongst the vintage stories that surround me and weave it into new meaning. Often dated and cheeky, the language is so charming and nostalgic that it seems only right that it should be revealed and celebrated, brought out of the book and into the light.
The vintage postcard is set into old photographic corners, so that you are able to remove it and inspect the history that it reveals on the rear side. Some postcards have handwritten letters and some are blank on the back so you are able to construct your very own secret message on it – one that only you will know about or the person you gift it to. How remarkable and surprising will it be when it is discovered unexpectedly!
Each of these Short Stories are one-of-a-kind and ready to be framed.
