An original analog collage created with ephemera from Foolhouse’s private collection.
‘Little Women, Big Magic’ uses parts of carefully curated illustrations from damaged vintage Milly Molly Mandy books by Joyce Lankester Brisley circa 1950’s, put together to tell a new story. They are integrated into a made-over 1960’s Little Women book cover with unique handmade details such as stitches using my mother’s vintage sewing box, carved book mushrooms in dimensional relief and polymer clay clouds. Milly Molly Mandy always protests that she is naughty when infact she was very good, especially by todays standards! She is so charming and nostalgic that it seemed only right that she be brought out of the books and into the light. Magic is in everyone no matter how little you are.
Mounted on Heavy Watercolour Paper and framed. 20cm x 25cm x 4cm.
