Carved from a 2001 Edition of Little Women

Re-imagined by Foolhouse
This handmade book sculpture is carved from 340 pages. Each flower and petal is also created from the same book and if you read between the lines on her collar you will find a line from the book -written ‘Go then, my little book’. The perfect gift for a bookish treasured friend or your very own book shelf.
I created these sculptures to re-use the blocks of paper that I had left over after carving out my vintage books as book safes, I like nothing going to waste and so the Book Club Ladies were born, each one is One-of-a-kind and add an unexpected dimension to your bookshelf. I always try to find a meaningful word on the page to title the sculpture.
The glass cloche measures approx. 9cm in diameter and is 19cm tall.
All the information of the book it was carved from is on the base so that its’ history is always kept with it.
When I make the Secret Vintage Booksafes I try not to waste any of the paper i carve out and re-use it to make these endearing three dimensional book sculptures for the bookish amongst us. They are a delightful addition to bookshelves and mantles and great gifts for the book lovers.
