Bocce balls re-imagined by Foolhouse
These handmade assemblages are certainly one-of-a-kind! Finding forgotten collectables is somewhat of a passion and the curve balls that life throws at us is an absurdity lately that I felt should be stated in an artwork.
After the popularity of my first drop of monkeys, I have sourced more balls and a pack of monkeys to bring you Drop 2. A big fan of French circus life and coupled with the most amazing phrase that has got me through some really whacky times, I couldn’t resist bringing more of these cheeky monkeys to life.
This time the balls have stars on them – pertinent as each individual monkey is the star in our somewhat upside down world! I have sewn miniature harlequin collarsonto them and individually hand-sculpted and antiqued hats and balls. Rustically hammered lettering around the timber base spells out the phrase that subtly embraces the shenanigans overhead.
The glass cloche measures approx. 9cm in diameter and is 19cm tall. The close up photo of the phrase is indicative of how each base has been treated.
They are a delightful addition to bookshelves and mantles and great gifts for those that need a reminder to disengage from the circus!
