Description
QUEEN BEE
For all the Queen Bees, I have created a belljar sculpture to celebrate the bee-autiful shape of the hive and topped it with the most important bee of all along with all her worker bees.
Carved from approximately 200-300 pages of miscellaneous rescued vintage books, this piece will add an unexpected dimensionality to your bookshelf.
The glass cloche measures approx. 10cm in diameter and is approx. 18cm tall.
All the information of the book it was carved from is on the base so that its’ history is always kept with it.
The hives shown in the photo with the Foolhouse ribbon are the two available. Each one is slightly different. Let me know which you prefer in the Message Section or I will send you a surprise.

On the Right: Queen Bee carved from The Australian Girls Annual by Cassell and Co. 1924
Note: When I make the Secret Vintage Booksafes I try not to waste any of the paper i carve out and re-use it to make these endearing three dimensional book sculptures for the bookish amongst us. Sometimes the sculptures capture the blank edges and sometimes they carve through the lettering giving each one an individuality of tones. This photo shows the scale, (the front hive on left is the QB Mini, Back Left is the QB Medium and Back right is the QB Large) however the hive you get may have different markings on it depending on how the book exposes its’ contents when carved! They are a delightful addition to bookshelves and mantles and great gifts for the Queen Bee book lovers you know.
