An original collage from Foolhouse’s Postcards from The Famous Five Collection
‘Cos don’t mother’s just have that secret way about them? Whether you are mothering humans or animals, or have had the magic experience of a beautiful mother, this text will bring a smile. This railway tunnel in Canada took piqued my interest as ‘my mother was always astute at ‘keeping me on track’.
This Original A5 Collage uses fabulous coloured illustrations from a variety of 1950’s-1960’s Famous Five Books by Enid Blyton. They are integrated into a gorgeous vintage postcard and surrounded by text and Chapter headings from the original books in such a way to tell a new story with the words of old. The language is so charming and nostalgic that it seems only right that it should be celebrated, brought out of the book and into the light.
This textural collage uses not only rescued book illustrations, but thread and pin pricks from my mother’s vintage sewing box – all the better to tie the present to the past, or perhaps the past to the present.
