Description
Please sign up to my newsletter on my website to be one of the first to know when the next drop of Book Sculptures will occur if this listing is sold out.
Frida Kahlo – part of my Resilient Women Collection.
These Book Sculpture figures are individually carved from rescued vintage books that are worthy of being turned into this bespoke endeavour.
Please note that the photos shown in this listing are indicative of the finished product. Each skirt, depending on what book, or part of the book is used will appear a little different due to variation in paragraphs and guttering and there will be slight variations in the silhouette texture as I carve frills and flounces randomly depending on the maleability of the book. The overall shape remains the same and Frida from the waist up will always be the same vein.
Pardon the dust in my photos – such is the nature of my carving space being within my studio!
On the base of each sculpture is a label noting the book it was carved from, its’ date and number of pages used. It is the perfect foil to add dimensionality and interest to the book shelf.
I created these sculptures to re-use the blocks of paper that I had left over after carving out my vintage books as book safes, I like nothing going to waste. Each one is One-of-a-kind.
The glass cloche measures approx. 17cm in diameter and is 25cm tall.
